When your garage door opener light blinks it means that your photo eyes are out of alignment or there is something blocking them. Make sure they have a clear path to see each other or slightly adjust till the LED light on the photo eyes are lit and remain solid.
If your garage door opener just hums or clicks when you engage it this is a sign that you have either a bad circuit board, or a stripped gear and sprocket. If you take the cover off the unit and see plastic shavings, your gear/sprocket needs replacing. If there is no plastic shaving it is most likely a bad circuit board.
